Help us welcome Steven L. Parks, LCSW-S, MBA, RPT-STM to North Carolina with a two day conference! The two day event promises to bring excitement, engaging material, and of course, plenty of playfulness. Mr. Parks will take us through Liberatory & Culturally Responsive Play Therapy on Friday, followed by Play Therapy for Survivors of Natural Disaster on Saturday.
Liberatory & Culturally Responsive Play Therapy:
Presentation engages Play Therapists in developing a critical anti-oppressive lens to renovate their Play Therapy practice. The presentation teaches techniques for the integration of liberatory mental health concepts for culturally responsive Play Therapy with clients that have experienced historical oppression.
Play Therapy for Survivors of Natural Disaster:
This continuing education event defines Post-traumatic Play and discusses how trauma related to natural disasters may impact a child's play. Participants will learn methods and skills for assessing, identifying, and treating trauma using an integrative Play Therapy approach. Participants will practice skills and interventions for treating trauma stemming from exposure to natural disasters in an interactive learning format.
